Congratulations to Talle Family Scholarship recipients!

The Department of Psychology is very pleased to announce that two of our junior honors majors, Erin Begnel and Manju Connolly, were awarded the prestigious College of Liberal Arts Talle Family Scholarship for 2015-16. Talle Family Scholars exemplify what a liberal arts education makes possible and provide powerful evidence that CLA is a destination college for talented, motivated students. Ten awards were made across the College; a message from the Dean is attached here. The awardees receive full tuition scholarships to support them in their senior year. Both Erin and Manju excel both within and outside of the classroom.

Mike Swenson's paper "Redefining the Eyewitness: An Examination and Proposed Solution to The Cross-Race Effect in Eyewitness Identifications" has been chosen as the First Place recipient of the Sharon Borine Award!

Tori Simenec's paper "Investigating the Relationship Between Adverse Experiences and Memory in Children" has been chosen as the Second Place recipient of the Sharon Borine Award!

Klara Manning's paper " A Comparison of Autism Spectrum Disorder and Anorexia Nervosa: Examining the Gender Gap" has been chosen as the Third Place recipient of the Sharon Borine Award!

Kyle Menary Wins the Turner Award for 2010 Best Thesis

Kyle Menary, a Fall 2010 summa Honors B.A. graduate in Psychology, has been selected as the recipient of the John E. Turner Award for the Best Undergraduate CLA Honors Project submitted in 2010. His summa thesis, "The Prevalence and Clinical Implications of Self-Medication among Individuals with Anxiety Disorders," was judged the most outstanding of a field of thirteen nominated by their respective CLA departments. To place Kyle's accomplishment into perspective, he is the first Psychology Honors graduate to receive this recognition since the Turner Award was established in 1988. The award was named for the late John E. Turner, a Regent's Professor of Political Science and a great supporter of Honors and its students.
Kyle's thesis was mentored by Dr. Matt Kushner, Department of Psychiatry. The letter of nomination was co-written by Drs. Kushner and Luciana. Monica mentored Kyle through her research lab from his first year on campus.
A $200 honorarium also accompanies the award.
Kyle has been invited to be recognized by the Department at the 2011 Psychology Undergraduate Celebration to take place on Friday, May 6th at the Campus Club, Coffman Memorial Union, along with other award recipients and Spring 2011 graduating seniors.

2011-12 Birkelo Scholarships

Dear Psychology Colleagues,

Rezutek have been selected as 2011-2012 CLA Selmer Birkelo Scholarship
recipients. This is a highly competitive award for students majoring in
fields relating to history, modern languages, classics, or the social
